Our Story

We are the Piazza family—Tim, Katie, TJ, Nicholas, and Anne. Our journey began in 2017 when our second child, Colette, was diagnosed with brain cancer at just ten weeks old. This diagnosis sent our family into the world of hospitals, treatments, therapies, and heartbreak. Colette passed away just before her second birthday, but through her life and loss, we experienced a grace that transformed us.

Our journey with Colette brought us closer to the God of all comfort and showed us the power of hope, even in the darkest moments. Though we long for the day we’ll be reunited, we live with purpose and deep, eternal hope.

In 2024, we founded This Present Hope to provide physical and spiritual support to families walking through the challenges of loving a medically fragile child. Our mission is to offer care, resources, and lasting hope to those in need.

Along with our work with This Present Hope, Tim has spent his life in education and is an elementary school principal. Katie has over ten years of experience as an emergency room nurse and is a certified biblical counselor (ACBC). God has grown our family since the loss of Colette, giving us two more children, Nicholas and Anne. Together we continue to embrace a life full of hope.
